We’re so excited to be back for another year of improv!

The CCMS Improv program is a year-long comprehensive study of game-based, short form improvisation directed and led by award-winning professional improviser Eric Price.

Registration for the 2023-2024 CCMS Improv Program begins on August 23 and classes begin on September 11.

PARTICIPATION IN THE PROGRAM REQUIRES:

  • Online REGISTRATION – 2023-24 registration begins August 23 and closes August 31
  • RETURNING Students attend a MANDATORY CLASS  – on August 30 from 1:45-3:15 pm at the CCMS Cafeteria (please note: this is a location change, we’re not in the MPR this year).
  • New Students attend a MANDATORY TRIAL CLASS  – on August 31 from 2:30-4:00 pm at the Robert Frost Auditorium.
  • Parents attend MANDATORY PARENT MEETING – on August 31 from 4:00-5:00 pm at the Robert Frost Auditorium.

May 2022 – Spring IN PERSON Shows!

The past few years have definitely put the program’s improv skills to the test. Gratefully, with the willingness of teachers, students and parents, CCMS Improv transitioned successfully online, back to in-person classes, back online once again for winter performances, and now – at long last – we return to the Robert Frost for our spring performances! The students’ ability to rise to the occasion adds resilience to the list of life skills developed in the program.

So please join us on the weekend of May 21-22 for five, yes FIVE, amazing shows from the talented middle-school performers of the CCMS Improv Program.

Just like our students, each performance is one-of-a-kind, totally unrehearsed, and driven by audience suggestions! Come play with us! ​

SHOWGRAMS: We’re once again offering showgrams so you can send a special message of support to the student or group of your choice! Showgrams are available for $5 each and will be sold at the Robert Frost before the show and during intermission, for delivery to the students after their performance.

COVID PROTOCOLS: THE ROBERT FROST REQUIRES MASKS AS WELL AS PROOF OF VACCINATION OR NEGATIVE PCR TEST AND ID.

Registration for the 2021-2022 CCMS Improv Program is now open and classes begin on September 20.

PARTICIPATION IN THE PROGRAM REQUIRES:

  • Online REGISTRATION – for 2021-22, registration begins August 10 and closes August 27 (click here to register)
  • Students attend a MANDATORY TRIAL CLASS  – on August 27 from 2:30-4:00 pm at the Robert Frost Auditorium. (both new and returning students are required to attend the Trial Class)
  • Parents attend MANDATORY PARENT MEETING – on August 27 from 4:00-5:00 pm at the Robert Frost Auditorium.

Registration can be withdrawn after the Trial Class if student/parent decide that the Improv Program is not a good match for the student at this time. Unfortunately, registration is not possible after the Trial Class.

June 2021 – Summer Workshops 2021

Summer Workshops sign-ups are now available!

Open to all CCMS Improv Program students and alumni who have completed at least one year in the program.

WHEN: Wednesdays (in person), Thursdays (online), and Fridays (in person) @ 12:00 – 2:00 pm, between June 16 and August 13, 2021.

WHERE: Online via Zoom, in person at Carlson Park on Braddock in Culver City

WHAT:  Workshops exploring more fun Improv games, including some never-before-played games. Participants are required to have completed at least one year in the CCMS Improv Program. The workshops will focus on finding the fun in the scene, playing grounded characters, and keeping our improv skills sharp through advanced improv games and exercises. There may be some hot days but we will perform and rehearse in the shade and it’s actually a very fun, freeing environment to improvise in. Students should bring either a yoga mat or folding chair to sit on + plenty of water.

COST:  $20 per workshop.
*** Advance payment is required (no drop-in participants can be accommodated). ***

Students do not need to attend every workshop. Participants will receive confirmation of each workshop, based on having a minimum of 8 participants. Workshops will also have a MAXIMUM of 16 participants, so register now before they fill up!

Please note that all participants MUST have completed at least one year of CCMS Improv! Please do not sign up if your student is not yet in the CCMS Improv Program, as we are unable to offer refunds for this reason.
